@binchicken 💕💕 thanks, guess I'll be re-hanging shelves this weekend

Food, very mildly gross, a mystery

@shahaan I feel like I've experienced many soapy apples in my life!! You seem well protected but wishing you the best of health regardless, and of course better luck with your apples in future 😋

@shahaan oh man Ive debated posting this reply so much because I don't want to be alarmist or freak you put and it may well be just a weird apple - but that's a covid symptom 🙈 things tasting like soap, rotten meat or petrol. Can also happen if you've had covid before, so might not be that youre coming down with it.

What “trust the science” means and the exact practice we need today. This is what conservatives and ignorants don’t want you to see.

I know it was my bad for using the self adhesive hooks instead of nails to hang my spice racks, but these record temperatures have smashed all pretty glass jar collection and now my ingredients are on the floor

When your head feels ok and you're not dizzy or tired it's time to cool your body down - take a cold shower, or run cold water over your forearms and/or feet.

Then get back on the electrolytes and hydration and rest. Keep this up until you start sweating again. I know you're tired, but you MUST be sweating before you go to sleep.

Treating heat stroke
1. Sit down - don't try and keep working or walking or whatever you're doing. Get inside or get some shade and sit because if you don't you might pass out.
2. You will not hydrate without electrolytes. Grab some fruit or a smoothie and put some salt on/in it. You can also drink that blue drink the workout people drink.
Once you have your electrolytes, DRINK WATER. Room temperature water is what you need. Don't drink it all in one go - sip slowly and consistently.

Know the signs:
- Headaches
- Dizzyness
- Tiredness, especially if you want to go to sleep. Do not go to sleep.
- But #1 for me - you stop sweating.
If you expect you should be sweating but you're not, you're likely in heat stroke. This is an easy early sign if you're usually sweaty af like me.

Heat stroke PSA

If you're not used to the sunny weather (like me) here's how to avoid heat stroke like a pro from someone who gets heat stroke in 25⁰ weather - I've been thru it enough times.

Maybe a cheesey request - but I'm helping our office management to plan a team event. I am looking for an art teacher to teach our team (around 11 people) to paint.

The task would be to come to our office in for ~4hrs, provide art supplies and guidance for self portraits together. The teacher needs to provide an invoice that the company can use to pay for the event. Dates and budget will be worked out together.

If you know someone who might be interested please let me know!

@Lamaskier not opensource but is free... But now I've re-read your post I don't think it's the solution you're looking for

@Lamaskier maybe won't work for contracts but I use notion.io now for everything I use to use gdocs for in the past - mostly notetaking and for easy access from every device. Style and design are limited tho and I'm not sure about pdf export but it's certainly less of a learning curve than LaTeX

dall-e is an impressive technological marvel, but DID YOU KNOW: for a nominal fee, you can hire unfathomably talented artists living in poverty to render any and all of your invasive thoughts NO QUESTIONS ASKED

Food - One of my life goals is to have a pantry

One of my most achievable life goals is to have a pantry in my apartment.

A place I can store all massive amounts of all the good non perishables, and I can "go shopping" there twice a week for rice and cereal and tinned food and spices and whatever. And just go to the market occasionally for fresh veg and meat and fish. And keep basically nothing in my kitchen, only what I will actually eat that week.

Bonus points if it's down a trap door.

@tfb if you don't vote before the end of the poll, you're cursed with unstocked shelves of avocado and nut butter in your local store/market forever

If you had to give up one of these forever, which one would it be? (Dairy-free edition)

If you had to give up only one of these forever, which one would it be? (Dairy-eater edition)

Also if it makes a difference - we're a very chill group. Small medical device / ai-software startup, and our last team events were a board game night, an archery class and cheering on some teammates in a relay marathon.

Also if you want to give me a quote for your time that's ok, or alternatively I'll let you know what we can pay once I get the budget from the office manager and we can figure it out.

I volunteered to organise this event because I'd really really like to recycle some of this berlin tech startup $$ to support artists and creatives in Berlin, so I appreciate any recommendations!

Please let me know if you are interested or can recommend someone - and share some website or portfolio that I can use to convince the office management team ☺️
