I made myself an alt account for posting digital paintings only:

Trying to get back into the habit of painting after many, many years... Follow me there if you want to see more?

TIL Second Life is 19 years old and still has one million MAU (monthly active users)!

The OG metaverse.

I'd bet Second Life will be bought by some awful crypto company, as they get increasingly more desperate to peddle tokens and NFTs on anybody

Lucia di Lammermoor in an interesting, video-heavy new production at Met Opera (NYC).

I sneaked this iPhone shot at start of Act 1.

The camera crew follows the soprano into the building. The action then continues on screen with her closeups, while other events unfold on stage.

Really impressive direction and projection design! (Sadly Act 3 felt like they ran out of time to polish...)

The old lady next to me wasn't impressed at all. Tough crowd at the Met 😅

Bad mistake this morning. Forgot to say "toasted" when ordering the bagel.

In life you get what you ask for

The most daunting thing for me about joining Mastodon/Fediverse was picking an instance.

Having joined one, a RL metaphor emerges for me: "it's like picking an apartment building."

You need to evaluate the management. Do they respect tenant rights? Is the desk clerk skeevy?

Do you want to live in a big impersonal complex? Or a little boarding house, where people share a lot and have house parties? You can even be a "home owner" and run your own instance (pay the bills, fix the plumbing).

with some new people popping up, I'd like to share some tools if I may that people—especially those that work with video/rendering—may find useful

Ramma —detects bad frames in image sequences

Faera — adds visual markers for motion tracking vfx work

Mvrk — composition guides based on dynamic symmetry

Tape — offline-first project management for creatives

you can find these and some other stuff at aeriform.io/software

Hi there, my

I'm Pauli, doing graphics and media stuff since the 90s. Got hooked by a pirate copy of After Effects 3.1 on Windows 95. (Also demoscene stuff back then.)

I'm honestly not a good enough animator, so I'm a programmer instead... I made pixelconduit.com and some other video apps. I was a cofounder at Vidpresso acquihired by Facebook in 2018.

Now working on live video+graphics APIs at daily.co.

app.rodeo is my nascent blog.

mograph.social is a Mastodon server for the motion design community. VFX artists, 3D artists, animators, designers and illustrators with an interest in moving images are all welcome.
